Artist's Description

Squire's Castle is a landmark in Willoughby Hills, Ohio. It was built by Fergus B. Squire and completed in 1902. But Squire's wife disliked the house, and Squire rarely visited it after 1908. He sold the estate and gatekeeper's house to developers in 1922. A story told (but is false) was that Louisa Squire woke one night during a storm and went downstairs to investigate. Startled by lightning (which illuminated the stuffed heads of animals in the structure's trophy room), she fell down the stairs and broke her neck. According to this legend, her ghost may be seen floating through Squire's Castle.

About Paul Giglia

Paul Giglia

Paul Giglia is a freelance writer and photographer. Previously just a hobby, for the last few years he has studied and practiced photography in earnest. He has a wide interest in photographic subjects, but has concentrated on unique florals, landscapes, wildlife, and cityscapes. He also worked in the corporate world as an advertising copywriter, and still writes on a freelance basis. Paul hopes you'll enjoy looking at his work even if you don't make a purchase.
